#20 Hats

 Just hats......

My intention was to have clear focus on the up-close hat and allow her reflection to be mostly clear as well. Unfortunately, my light source was not in an ideal location.
Same idea as above...but F-stop changed and reflection image is out of focus.

Eyes are shaded by hat brim...I likely could have done a better job if I'd had her turn entirely toward the window.

  2. Really like #1, I think it was made for BW! #2 tells a story from a different era, and #7 is a very interesting hat. It looks like you found a very interesting shop for your photos!

  3. I really liked 4 too I like that she is blurred it gives more emphasis on the hat. I forgot to mention that one.. I also think the last one would have been great in black and white too because of all the different patterns in the hat.

    1. I really struggled whether or not to make that B&W. You and Joanne are the queens of making excellent B&W's and knowing when it would look best to do so.

    1. LOL, I'd love to take credit for that vignette, but it was the store display. :-)

  5. Hey Lynn, Great stuff here.
The hat tree is good because it IS the subject first of all. The colors all go together. No clutter to distract from the subject. Hats from top to bottom and left to right. Good one.

The hat with vail is textbook corner to corner composition and with the luggage it says "trip on the Titanic". Great shot
The last one's face and the background are almost the same color and brightness. If she turned toward us 1/4 it would have made a little more contrast.

  6. Lynn, you most certainly can take credit for the composition in #2- you chose the angle which can make or break a shot and it definitely made this picture! The portraits are nice, too, especially the reflection shots. In focus or not, they work. I think the last shot is interesting because it's in profile- the details and colors are as important as the figure. Stay warm up there and enjoy the snow while you can!
